MediShield Life Coverage
MediShield Life coverage is sized for subsidized treatment in public hospitals and pegged at Class B2/C wards. It covers:
- Day surgery
- Inpatient daily ward and treatment charges
- Surgical procedures
- Implants
- Other outpatient treatments (e.g., chemotherapy and radiotherapy for cancer)
Patients who choose to stay in a Class A/B1 ward or in a private hospital are also covered by MediShield Life, but the payout covers a small portion of the bill, and therefore they need to pay more from their MediSave and/or cash for the balance.
Subsidised Premiums
The Government will also provide significant support to keep premiums affordable, including those who need to pay Additional Premiums:
- Premium Subsidies for the lower- to middle-income
- Pioneer Generation Subsidies
- Merdeka Generation Subsidies; and
- Additional Premium Support for those who are unable to afford their premiums even after premium subsidies.
